Words can be a balm for the soul our a catalyst for action. I’ve spent more than twenty-five years marshaling words into narratives, newsletters, press releases and feature articles meant to move hearts, kindle imaginations, garner sales and attract media attention. Thankfully, not all at the same time.
Currently, I work as a senior features editor for Hoffman Media where I write for Victoria and Southern Lady magazines. However, over the course of my career as a writer and strategic communicator, I’ve worked with a variety of marketing and public relations departments, small businesses, advertising agencies, entrepreneurs, authors, and non-profits. I’ve even managed social media and, in the infancy of the blogosphere was once hired to dash around town dining at hip restaurants then blog about it.
At the moment, I live with my lovely family in the heart of Alabama. To the great dismay of my neighbors, I can’t take up the cry of “Roll Tide” or “War Eagle” with any real enthusiasm because my roots run deep in Oklahoma. Years spent in Dallas, Texas, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, deepened my love for that home state, but also provided valuable opportunities to sharpen my writing and communication skills, build relationships, and enjoy the unique culture of each city.
When not writing or helping organizations build credibility through thoughtful communications, I find great joy in spending time with my nearest and dearest, reading, painting, setting pretty tables, listening to music, and discovering new hair products that combat the humidity of the Deep South like a special ops team.
